Village Hall meeting success

The Clunbury Village Hall meeting held last night was well attended. Phil Wright, The Village Hall Committee Chairman described and demonstrated the improvements that had been made to the Hall thanks to the grant received. There was discussion about how the remaining improvement money should be spent and about expanding the programme of events held at the Hall. A number of new committee members were co-opted. More information will follow in next months Parish Post.

Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme round 2 launched

Round 2 of the Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme (FFIS) has now been launched and applicants are advised to read the Applicant Handbook very carefully as some of the conditions and eligible items have changed since Round 1.

There are 5 themes in FFIS:-

Nutrient management;
Energy efficiency;
Water management;
Animal health and welfare; and Forestry

Litter Picking Coordinator

Do you like fresh air, meeting new people, doing something useful, wearing a ‘hi vis’ tabard? Clunbury Parish Council is looking for an enthusiastic, organised person to co-ordinate a small team of litter pickers who will help to keep our parish beautiful. The Parish Council provide insurance cover for all involved. This is a voluntary position so the pay is …….. rubbish!

Another outdoor opportunity. This scheme is for an individual or small group of volunteers who wish to help look after the rights of way in the parish in collaboration with Shropshire Council’s Countryside Access Team.

Campaign launched to bring better broadband to Shropshire

A campaign is being launched by Shropshire Council to encourage residents and businesses to pledge their support for bringing better broadband to Shropshire. The more people register their support the more chance we have of seeing improvements so please follow the link below and complete the questionnaire.

The aim is that every household and business will have access to the industry-standard level of broadband, with as many properties as possible having access to a superfast broadband service, by the end of 2015.

The Government has ploughed £8.2 million into the Connecting Shropshire project, with the same being invested by Shropshire Council, and the campaign has now reached a crucial stage. For more information click here.

New On-Line Notice Board

Our Parish Council has invested in several posh new notice boards. But when it’s pouring with rain like it was yesterday nobody wants to go out and look at them. As it was, and still is, wet and miserable I thought I would have a go at producing an on-line notice board that you can look at from home. My first attempt can be seen by clicking on the small notice board image on the right. Send in your posters and I will put them on when I get time (no commercial adverts please). Suggestions for improvements very welcome.

The Reverend Cannon Paul Wignall has been appointed to the new Clun Valley Benefice, and he and his wife Carlynn and their dog Collar will be arriving in Clun in June. He will be licensed as priest-in-charge at St George’sClun at 7pm on Thursday 28th June. Do come and support him at this service.

His first service in St Swithin’s will be for our Patronal Festival and Songs of Praise on July 15th which will be preceded by a barbecue,
