From Jan Chorley, Forge House
I thought it should not go without a mention that on Sunday 27th November, after a difficult battle with his ailing body, Mr Allan Wright passed away. Allan, builder by trade, lived in Clunbury village off and on for more than 25 years, to my knowledge, and built or refurbished at least four of the houses here, including my own. He was, like Dennis and me, rather a recluse compared to many of the villagers here, but he was always kindly, and friendly, and we can attest that he was one of the best of our neighbours. He always seemed to know if we needed a hand with anything. Once, for example, we were beset with a power cut which was rather prolonged so he appeared with a calor gas cooker, and an offer of his generator. Allan was always ready for a chat over the fence, so we will miss him, and we don’t want his passing to go unmarked. For those of you interested his funeral will take place at 2.15pm on Wednesday December 7th at Hereford Crematorium, afterwards at the Quaker Friends’ Meeting House.
